Sorry for the delay in getting this email out to everyone, I’ve had some issues I’ve been dealing with and was gone most of the week right after the tournament, and had a very busy short holiday week last week. So I hope everyone had a great fourth of July last week.
The Mississippi River Anglers Association conducted its third 2019 Summer Trail Tournament Saturday June 22nd at a still very high Lake Ferguson. Fishing ended up being very tuff for most everyone with only 4 five bass limits being brought to the scales out of the 28 boats that fished in the tournament, and 11 zeroes were recorded, another slow day of fishing for most of us for sure.
On Lake Ferguson, first place went to a team from Clarksdale, Allen Powell and from Mantachie, Jackie Robinson, their 5 bass limit weighed in at a nice 16.32 lbs., coming in second place was a father and son team from Grenade, Tim and Logan McDaniel, their 5 bass limit weighed in at 12.62 lbs., coming in a close third place was another team from the Clarksdale area, Charles Hughes and David Huggins, their 5 bass limit weighed in at 11.79 lbs., coming in 4th place was a Tad Keller from Lake Village who was fishing by himself, his 5 bass limit weighed in at 10.75 lbs., coming in 5th place was another father and son team from Greenville, David and Jake Reed, their 4 bass weighted in at 8.96 lbs., coming in 6th place was Rob Livingston from Cleveland who was also fishing by himself, his 4 bass weighed in at 8.60 lbs., catching the tournament lunker was a team from Greenville, David Sykes and Bobby Ingram, their big bass weighed in at 4.24 lbs. Congratulations to all the money winners.
The fourth 2019 MRAA Summer Trail Tournament will be at Log Loader on July 20th , launching for the public ramp. The river is falling now and should be below flood stage by the tournament weekend. As we all know this has been a year for the records books for high water, so let’s all hope this fall on the river will continue for some time.
We’re going to have a vote on the fifth tournament, the one that scheduled for August 17th and shows TBA on the schedule. Only teams that has fished in all four of the tournaments will have a vote, so be thinking where you’d like to fish on August 17, so many choices to choose from!
